We are seeking a Payroll Specialist for our HR Services Hub who focuses on the delivery and the transactional part of the payroll processes for the assigned locations and Nutreco entities.

The Payroll Specialist ensures consistent and timely processing of the employee time information, working closely with the HR Service team, local HRBP’s and the business.

About The Role: Payroll Specialist Responsibilities:
  1. Understand, explain, and apply payroll and benefit policies, principles, legislation and collective bargaining agreement / Workers Council provisions;
  2. Verify completed payroll and review reports for accuracy and completeness before distribution;
  3. Prepare manual payroll cheques in compliance with established corporate procedures and update the payroll system for accuracy;
  4. Liaise with payroll provider to handle all system issues and required programming and updates;
  5. Conduct required or necessary research (through government contacts, internet research etc.) to provide accurate, current and verifiable information, guidance and assistance to employees on payroll related subject matters;
  6. Prepare remittances and reconcile payroll deductions such as union dues, charity, statutory deductions, pension, all 3rd party deductions, and government filings;
  7. Align with the global Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) on executing payroll processes;
  8. Be a Company liaison with Governmental Tax body, and all required government and third party agencies, relating to payment of deductions and premiums;
Skills and Expertise Qualifications:
  1. A bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, HR or another relevant field
  2. 3-5 years of relevant experience in the field of expertise
  3. Proven experience working on continuous improvement projects and project management
  4. Communication and written skills in French and English. Other languages are welcome too!
  5. Good communicator, building relationships, able to make connections between various internal and external contacts
  6. Strive to operational excellence and high quality, work in a transparent and efficient way
  7. Analytical, problem solving, critical thinking and decision-making skills
