The role

The Geochemistry Division in Malaga is seeking a Senior Laboratory Assistant to become part of a team that strives to exceed customer expectations by delivering quality results on time.

The position is a full-time role with primary responsibilities including the operation and calibration of LECO, AAS, ICPOES, and ICPMS instrumentations. These responsibilities may vary based on the candidate's previous experience and business needs. During the training period, the role will be on a day shift schedule. However, the successful candidate must be available to work on a weekly rotating shift roster, which may include day, afternoon, and night shifts, as well as occasional weekend work. Recent graduates are encouraged to apply!

The day to day

The successful applicants will undertake a range of duties including the following:

  1. Analysis of samples using LECO, AAS, ICPOES, and ICPMS instrumentation.
  2. Perform instrument/equipment calibration and maintenance as required.
  3. Troubleshooting of instrument/quality issues.
  4. Calibration of standards and instrument QC solutions.
  5. QC raw data review of results.
  6. Ensuring that client turn-around times are met.
  7. Once training is complete, be able to work autonomously.
  8. Other duties as the role progresses.
The essentials

The successful candidate will possess the following skills and abilities:

  1. A tertiary qualification or Diploma in a Chemistry related field is preferred.
  2. Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain focus.
  3. Previous or similar instrumentation experience is desirable.
  4. Be able to work within a team environment.
  5. Be able to multi-task and produce accurate results.
  6. Be willing to work shift work.
