The Legal & Compliance Counsel is primarily responsible for providing Legal & Compliance support to Cardinal Health's medical device direct business in France as well as the indirect EMEA markets. This role will:

  1. Provide strategic solutions to the France leadership team;
  2. Provide legal support to the business and corporate governance of the group/local affiliates;
  3. Manage company compliance matters and oversee the management of contracts, dispute resolutions and on-site monitoring;
  4. Provide guidance and advice to internal stakeholders regarding legal/compliance activities & matters.

This position reports to the Director Legal & Compliance Western Europe & Brazil with a dotted line to the Director Legal & Compliance CP Markets.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Providing proactive legal and compliance advice and counsel to support the medical device business.
  2. Set up and improve the internal legal system in terms of contract management, updating templates and SOPs.
  3. Drafting, negotiating and reviewing the entire gamut of commercial contracts such as distribution agreements, agreements with key customers and hospitals, responding to tenders, agreements with key vendors for long-term supply of materials, including advising on our rights and obligations under various contracts.
  4. Anticipate legal, regulatory and enforcement trends in the healthcare industry and prepare the company to meet the opportunities and challenges presented by those trends.
  5. Weigh in on business strategies and resolve operational issues cross-functionally.
  6. Coordinate with external counsels on various projects from time to time within budget.
  7. Assist internal investigations and investigations related interviews where necessary.
  8. Understand and implement corporate guidelines and policies with regard to our code of business conduct, anti-bribery, anti-corruption policies, healthcare compliance policies and procedures.
  9. Work cross-functionally to ensure ongoing activities (including interactions with HCPs and HCIs) meet industry norms and requirements on ethical interactions, and audit and monitor to ensure compliance with those norms and requirements.
  10. Work with the International Legal & Compliance team including implementing global compliance policy & procedure, legal & compliance training program to associates, streamlining work processes, etc.
  11. Lead or participate in international or global projects as needed from time to time.
EDUCATION/TRAINING and/or EXPERIENCE:
  1. At least PQE 5-6 years working experience in law firm/in-house.
  2. Knowledge of the healthcare industry is desirable.
  3. Legal practicing certificate is desirable.
