Brown-Forman Mexico operates in a complex, hybrid, multi-channel route-to-consumer network with a diverse portfolio of brands.

The Finance Director leads, directs, develops and manages the financial activities of Mexico including the local finance teams. The role reports to the Finance Director of Emerging International and has a matrix reporting into Mexico’s VP, General Manager. The Finance Director is a key member of the B-F Mx Leadership Team, with responsibility for over $300 million in net sales. Provides advice, counsel and leadership on key business issues to the country manager and his/her management team, including strategy, revenue management, business planning, forecasting, financial controls, business processes, information systems and distribution structures. Takes ownership for the financial strategies, reporting and analysis for Mexico’s Business Unit. Partnering with regional and corporate teams, overseeing the whole range of accounting, tax, payroll, treasury, and other financial issues related to Mexico.

Pivotal to this role, is the ability to inspire, motivate, empower and develop our teams and beyond. Secondary to this, the individual will be responsible for leading a talented group of experts in Finance.

Mexico represents the second largest market for B-F. The position requires a significant amount of influence locally and regionally. The ability to navigate a matrix environment and champion the needs of B-F Mx from an organization perspective is essential. It is also a key stakeholder in B-F Mx’s objective to build a reputation as an entrepreneurial spirited spirits company, built on trusting relationships with a long term value orientation.

The role will require demonstrating capability in Finance, as well as a high level of understanding of the trade, our brands and portfolio prioritization as a whole. You will have the ability to establish and maintain an effective network within the sector at national level. Success for this position is dependent on a strong drive to deliver results, excellence in communication and influencing skills and bold, enterprise-wide thinking.

What You Can Expect

Leadership

  • The key responsibility as a team member is to be a steward of the organization culture, driving a unified purpose across the commercial organization by being an active and collaborative member of the Mx Leadership Team.
  • Provides input and insights to influence the company’s strategic direction, business and portfolio strategies, special projects as necessary, and reports agreed-upon metrics to team and stakeholders.
  • Provides recommendations to influence strategic objectives enabling B-F Mx’s contribution to the overall strategy and plans for the Emerging International Region.
  • Instills, role model, defend and Champion B-F’s Key Policies: Code of Conduct, Compliance, Social Responsibility/Responsible Drinking, Responsible Marketing, Diversity & Inclusion.

Business Development

  • Works closely with GM, Sales Director, Marketing Director, etc, on the development of business and portfolio strategies, yearly budgets and quarterly projections, trade terms, price structures and profit margins.
  • Establishes procedures and systems necessary for concise, accurate, periodic financial reports on a timely basis on Mexico results and financial position. Works with IT teams to develop management reporting and analytical tools to control the business as well as improve efficiency in all areas of the commercial business.
  • Appraises the country's financial position and issues periodic financial and operating reports.
  • Communicates and interprets operating results as they affect the financial aspects of the country and makes specific recommendations, which will drive growth in revenue, reduce costs, and grow profit.
  • Serve as a key advisor to the Country General Manager by analyzing business results and recommending strategic initiatives to build related brands and increase profit growth. As an advisor, the position interprets and analyzes brand and country results and trends using both internal and external data. Identify opportunities for sales and profit improvement.
  • Oversees the planning and rolling forecasting processes and interpretation and presentation of such information.
  • Participates in and formalizes short and long range planning in areas of possible growth, expansion and new profit opportunities.
  • Ensures all appropriate financial controls and legal/regulatory requirements are properly followed. Works with Accounting, Credit and Transactions (ACT) to develop policies and procedures for the establishment and maintenance of proper internal controls surrounding financial results throughout Mexico, including compliance with corporate policies.
  • Oversees revenue growth management efforts for Mexico, identifying opportunities that optimize Brown-Forman’s value creation by utilizing the most relevant data and analytical tools to develop insights into drivers of brand volume growth (price elasticity measure, impact of brand expense investment, competitive behaviors) through statistical modeling as well as descriptive analytics.
  • Responsible for management and development of the Mexico finance team.
  • Partners with IT and accounting leadership in managing and developing indirect teams.
  • Partners with the regional and corporate functions to oversee the whole range of accounting, tax, treasury, and financial issues related to Mexico.

Strategic Guidance

  • Internally Communicates company vision and strategies and manages the performance / development of the business.
  • In collaboration with other areas, develop and implement a commercial planning process that is aligned with the company’s integrated planning process and bridges BFM and Customers’ strategic and financial goals with mutually agreed objectives and aligned activities.
  • Enable commercial teams to effectively allocate resources and maximize ROI.

What You Bring to the Table

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or similar and 7-10 years relevant experience.
  • Proven leadership, strategic thinking and decision-making abilities.
  • Bilingual: Spanish-English is mandatory.
  • Outstanding oral and written communications skills with the ability to develop and integrate comprehensive marketing, sales and production plans as well as to discuss financial strategies and translate into actionable plans.
  • Strong consultative and diagnostic skills.
  • Excellent quantitative/mathematical skills with strong ability to interpret financial results and analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and complete diverse activities within an established time frame.
  • High level of integrity and trust.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; able to develop and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of internal and external contacts.
  • Excellent manager and talent developer in a diverse culture - demonstrated commitment to providing regular, constructive feedback to teams; demonstrated coaching ability; ability to objectively assess both skills and potential of talents.
  • Word, Excel, Power Point, SAP, BW SAP reporting, Tableau.
  • Knowledge in accounting (US GAAP and Mexican NIFS), Treasury management, Mexican tax law, corporate and labor law, human factors.
