The Role

At Idneo, we are looking for an Optical Engineer to join our team based in Viladecavalls to be responsible for the lens and any other optical components (cover glass, LED) that are integrated into the camera.

Your Responsibilities
  1. Meet the optical requirements agreed with the customer and co-design and/or select the optical component in collaboration with the suppliers.
  2. Agree with the customer on overall component performance, considering optical, image, and mechanical requirements that may affect the component in all environmental conditions.
  3. Ensure that the lens achieves the level of quality that the customer is requesting, considering performance at low, high, and room temperature.
  4. Work in a simulation environment such as Speos.
  5. Discuss with the customer the different optical requirements and agree on the final KPIs and their thresholds, limits, and values.
  6. Ensure overall optical performance based on road test scenarios.
  7. Define lens requirements (customer and internal) and design the validation plan for the lens suppliers, and follow up on these activities.
  8. Support the Recording team to ensure all real scenarios are taken into account during road tests.
  9. Support the Purchasing team to define the lens suppliers panel.
  10. Agree with the lens supplier on the level of the pieces and delivery dates between the supplier and our client.
  11. Agree with project management (TPL, PM) on the level of maturity of the pieces and delivery dates.
  12. Test the optical performance of the lenses in the client facilities with different samples' maturity.
  13. Design and customize optical setups for optical KPI measurements used by the Optical team and Testing team. Calibrate and maintain the optical setups.
  14. Evaluate in the laboratory the KPIs agreed with the customer.
  15. Evaluate in real scenarios the overall performance agreed with the customer.
  16. Fluent in Matlab and possess basic programming skills (C, C++, Python, and/or scripting languages).
  17. Have notions of camera functionalities, digital video, and image enhancement methods.
  18. Be passionate about photography with basic notions acquired as a photo hobbyist.
  19. Have a background in image processing and computer vision fields.
  20. Experience in machine vision systems development using image processing and machine learning techniques is desirable.
  21. Basic knowledge about Linux systems as an end-user is desirable.
  22. Experience in video acquisition devices configuration in a Linux OS environment is desirable.
