The Systems Engineer will join the Engineering/DevOps team of a rapidly growing BioTech.

Key Responsibilities

You will be responsible for developing and maintaining our next generation of high-availability clusters both edge and at various cloud providers (GCP or AWS), including features such as automated provisioning of network-attached block storage to satisfy persistent volume claims, usage reporting and in-cluster security policies.

  • For edge work you will be responsible for all networking, storage and computer hardware provisioning and configuration to support LXCs or k8s.
  • You will be responsible for creating and testing disaster recovery plans for: block storage/filesystems, network-attached storage (NFS and cloud-equivalents) and for S3-compatible storage.
  • Your work in the backup/restore area will involve a working knowledge of maintaining PostgreSQL performance and consistency.

Expert level :

  • Network attached storage administration
  • Distributed storage (CEPH) and workload (Slurm)
  • Directory administration (LDAP)
  • Linux administration.
  • Kubernetes management (both on-premises and in the cloud, kubectl + explain/defend your choice of other tools).
  • LXC and LXD cluster administration.
  • Backup/restore/redundancy strategies.
  • Database infrastructure administration: tuning PostgreSQL and Clickhouse performance and fault-tolerance.
