Your role and your team: You will be assigned to the Propulsion Team within the 5th generation technology demonstrator ('PHX2') program that is currently running an extended flight test campaign in Andalucía, Spain. In your role, you will lead engineering activities for the complete Propulsion system. The scope of the role extends from the unique ducted fan electric engines to the flap assembly including structural, harness, and actuator components. You will report directly to the program CE, focusing on running a successful flight test campaign. Your responsibilities will include flight data analysis, and following flight approval, providing and optimizing maintenance requirements as well as supporting any ad-hoc issues arising from aircraft operation. All work is to be done onsite in the ATLAS flight test site close to Villacarrillo, Spain.


Your Day to Day:

  1. Ensure continuous engineering support during the flight-testing activities for the propulsion system of the Lilium prototype aircraft.
  2. Flight data analysis.
  3. Maintenance support.
  4. Support solving any potential issues with the propulsion system.
  5. Constantly learn new things and share them with your team members.
  6. Work on any ad-hoc related projects or tasks.

Your Profile:

  1. University degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical/Vehicle Engineering or Electrical Engineering (aerospace specialization, M.Sc./M.Eng. preferred).
  2. Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in the aerospace industry is required.
  3. Ability to quickly understand and react to arising problems to minimize possible AoG time is absolutely essential.
  4. Basic knowledge of PDM/PLM systems (Teamcenter or equivalent) is required.
  5. Experience with flight testing is beneficial.
  6. Experience with reviewing data sets and drawing conclusions is required.
  7. Good understanding of propulsion systems is required.
  8. Good understanding of electromagnetic actuation is required.
  9. Project management experience is required.
  10. Excellent understanding of general design principles and technical correlations is required.
  11. Data analysis experience is beneficial.
  12. High level of self-reliance with the ability to work in a team, as well as autonomously if required.
  13. Target-oriented, driven work style with analytic problem-solving skills required.
  14. Ability and willingness to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly changing work environment is required.
  15. Fluent English language skills are essential; fluent German or any other language would be beneficial.
